Laptop computer started with approximately 1,500 companies: the FORTUNE 1,000® (the fir,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue), plus non-U.S. companies in FORTUNE’s Global 500® database with revenue of $10 billion or more. Nokia's were then sorted by industry along with the 15 largest for every international industry and the 10 largest for each and every U.S. industry were selected. A total of 652 companies from 30 countries were surveyed. To create the 54 industry lists, Hay Group (FORTUNE® survey partner) asked executives, directors, and analysts to rate companies in their own personal industry on nine criteria: people management, by using corporate assets, innovation, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products/services, and global competitiveness. A company’s score must rank within the top 50 % of its industry survey to get listed.
